This year more than 700 films were submitted to the Grand OFF Awards! Thank you for your interest! The best Grand OFF films can be seen in Warsaw, 19th-21st of November, in Luna Cinema!
GRAND OFF – World Off Film Awards is the most important event promoting independent cinema in Poland and one of the most significant initiatives of its kind all over the world. Independent cinema came into existence along with the invention of camera and it can nowadays boast numerous extraordinary productions. Thus, independent film should be held in high esteem and is certainly worthy of a more detailed attention.
Starting from the year 2006, European independent films received nominations in 9 categories: directing, scriptwriting, editing, cinematography, best actor, best actress, best fiction, best documentary and best animation. In the year 2008, one additional category, namely the Best Non-European Production was added. In the light of extraordinary popularity of the category among the pictures submitted to the Awards as well as the films' enthusiastic reception among the audience and critics alike, we have decided to open up Grand OFF, European OFF Film awards towards pictures from all over the world! That is how Grand OFF, European Off Film Awards have turned into Grand OFF, World Off Film Awards!
Moreover, the year 2009 will also mark the introduction of an entirely new award category, namely the Lifetime Contribution Prize. The filmmaker who receives the Award will become an honourable guest of the festival, charting the artistic trends for the generations of independent filmmakers to come!
GRAND OFF – World Off Film Awards are a gateway to the magical world of independent cinema. We would hereby like to invite all the cinema connoisseurs, demanding audiences and independent filmmakers from all over the world to step into this magical world!
