'Betting on Shorts' (BoSs) is an annual shortfilm festival which brings together cutting-edge venues (such as the ICA in London, the Point Ephém?re in Paris or KIBLA Multimedia Centre in Maribor) and filmfestivals (such as exground in Wiesbaden and l'Alternativa in Barcelona) across and beyond Europe in a unique shortfilm competition with a simultaneous screening: "More than a Eurovision of Shortfilm".Each year a themed open call for submissions is posted worldwide. 10 - 15 shorts of any genre (but under 10 minutes) are selected to take part in the competition, which is screened simultaneously in all participating cities. A local winner is chosen by a jury of critics, curators and other film professionals in each city. Once all juries have compared their results the overall winner is awarded glory, fame and cash. So the audience can have some fun as well, we invite everyone to bet on which film will win. Bets must be placed before the screening. But no worries: trailers of all participating films are screened in all participating venues and on the website a week in advance of the competition. Those who have placed their bet well, can win cinema tickets, dvds, books and the like.

MEDIAWAVE Festival “ANOTHER CONNECTION” is an international film and music festival for and from artists, whose individual way of creation is independent of fashion streams; for whom technique is the means not the purpose; who attempt to create an individual film code set - whether they live in a minority group or in a less exposed part of the world.
Our geographical borderline situation gives us a chance to consciously mediate between the artistic movements of the Eastern and Western- European region - still rather isolated from each other. Our purpose is not to unify them, but to expose local values and characteristics. On the border of East and West, in the eastern border fortress of the old political and the newest/modern cultural and economical iron curtain, we attempt to reveal the products of modern age migration in film, a program supplemented by other visual performances (theatre, movement theatre, exhibitions) and folk-music, improvised and alternative music concerts.

Short Film News is the first and the sole News Agency on short films and documentary in Iran and Asia who works independently and non-governmentally. We do not have a festival but we cooperate with nearly all the best Iranian and also some of European and Asian festivals. Due to some reasons - the most important is the massive young population in Iran and their strong interest in art activities - this trend is getting stronger and now it is more than a cinema or art process. According to the statistics, about 3 thousand short films, documentaries, experimental films and animations are made in Iran each year, some of which do not get the chance to be shown and judged anywhere. This is a noticeable number, especially if we know that Iran, as one of the first 15 countries in the world cinema, is not capable of making more than 70 features films each year.
